Support Weapon - Calibrating back to your own base when attacked

Question - If I set the support weapon in my Base A to point at Base B, and the support is fully calibrated on Base B, if my Base A is attacked:

1) Will the support weapon automatically calibrate back to defend my own Base A?
2) How long will the calibration take, or is it instant?
