Lost Connection to Server / Connection to Server Timed Out

I just bought the game for Xbox one, but game will not go pass the initial loading screen (the one with the grey ships) after I hit play on the main menu. After about 5-10 minutes of waiting the screen says "Connection to server timed out". I have all my ports open, re-installed the game, reset my MAC, and even called EA tech support (they didn't help). Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this problem? It is pretty frustrating to spend $40 on a game and I can't even play on second on it.
