Loud hissing/static noise in Titanfall, made worse after reinstall
I was also getting the widely reported hissing/static noises during game play after installing the latest update (4) to PC's Titanfall through Origin. No soultion so far and things are worse now. My PC is an i7, 32GB RAM, nVidia GTX 770 and SSD. Sound is through the motherboard (Gigabyte, intel chipset). Here what I was getting:
1) On Attrition and regular maps, hiss after killing a pilot. Not sure if always, but often.
2) On Marked For Death the same as above, plus total loud hiss when I was marked (nothing else could be heard).
3) On new DLC maps, constant hiss in some parts of the map, plus all of the above.
Now, I tried all the solutions around and then some:
a) Removed some specific files from the vpk folder (as stated in some threads), tried to repair, got a DirectX error, problem continued.
b) Removed the files above plus those in the DirectX folder (as pointed by some other threads). Same problem, same DirectX error.
c) Removed ALL vpk files from vpk folder (including camlist), repaired, same thing.
d) Deleted completely Titanfall and did a fresh download+install, including Origin's app.
Now, when I did the last step above, things got worse. First, Titanfall got stuck in "Installing" for hours, nothing happened. No files were being changed, no CPU was being used by Origin. After at least 3 hours waiting, I just killed Origin, reopened and launched Titanfall. Now I get hissing sound everywhere, including the start menu (continuous hissing). Tried to repair, got DirectX error again, nothing changed etc etc.
I understand some vpk are getting corrupted either during downloading or unpacking, but I can't find a way around this. My next step seems to be getting a pirate version of Titanfall and copying the files over to my original's folder...
Ideas?
