[PC] Game freezes in first load screen - Campaign

When I click "continue single player" the game starts switching between the loading screen and black screen and also minimizes itself from time to time. The game reaches the "Press Space to continue" screen but the screen turns black and the game freezes completely once I do.

It doesn't crash or display errors.

Additionaly I noticed in task manager that, once I launch the campaign, the game uses 0% of the CPU and GPU.

Multiplayer is also inaccessible since the game seems to be unable to choose a data center (I can tell from the text in the bottom left on main menu)

I played the game on release on a different, weaker PC and didnt have any of these issues.

Other threads that seemed to have similar issues didn't offer any help, neither did reinstalling the game, running as admin or repairing files.

DxDiag attached

  • Sorry for not responding earlier, i forgot i had submitted a post.

The suggested solutions by @EA_Atic didn't work for me.

However when i tried to play Apex Legends i had a similar issue which led me to tinker with my internet settings. Miraculously, turning on my VPN solved the issue in that game so i tried it in Titanfall 2 as well and it actually worked!

No idea what the issue was but this workaround makes it work for me.

Hey, @Loris_Azrael  @beeegboo make sure that all drivers for windows are up to date.

You can also try to do a clean boot to see if there any programs messing with Titanfall 2 and turn off any overlay programs for example Discord or Nvidia experience.

Worth to reinstall the GPU drivers for your PC.

Can you add a Dxdiag so we can see what hardware and drivers you have.

Let me know if this works or not for you. 🙂

9 hours in... and the same thing happened to me. The Beacon mission. Saved during play this AM, all good. running pretty smooth, more than halfway to the beacon. Saved. Did other stuff, came back and BOOM crashes every time I tried Campaign continue. Updates, restarts, more restarts. Tested Multiplayer, it worked, then decided to say 'well, before I reinstall and everything, maaaaaybe select mission?'

BOOM - started right up at the beginning of The Beacon, and began running again. I lost some progress, but not much more than the time wasted trying to sort this issue out. Needless to say I will be hammering through that mission, maybe to endgame, in case there is some latent issue in that mission's save files/checkpoint code...

Hopefully this helps someone else either begin playing again, or EA hone in on the error at-hand.

  • Specifically the one of the checkpoints nearest the two-crane-manipulation part of 'The Beacon' if that helps EA troubleshoot this at all.
