Re: Cannot start Titanfall 2 through steam (origin is tweaking)

Hi @FootFingerLover, To confirm do you still have the older Origin PC client of the new EA app client installed?

I also bought TF2 from steam, and no steam support, but it does not lanch on my PC.

TF2 game plays fine on my Steam Deck, but not able to run on my gamer laptop since bought from Steam.

It was able to run before with Origin lancher and this config run it fine (not on my account, but my son's account with Origin lancher in the past.
That account and Origin lancher removed, but config/OS is the same.)

Now I bought it on steam and on my windows 10 gamer laptop it is not lanching, just 'Preparing' EA app popup shows for a minute than steam closes the process as timeout kills the lancer and starts Validating process, but nothing to valideate game files are fine.

If I kill the EA background serive task and EA app and run the TF2 EXE file and keep waiting for EA lancher to finish this preparation, so wait longer than Steam waits I get info from EA that I did not purchase this product.

It cannot be run from EA app only trough Steam.

I uninstalled reinstalled EA app many times, gave administrator permissions did not help.

I uninstalled the game in Steam app and reinstalled, got the same issue.
REstarted Steam and PC, still not lanching trough EA.

I log in to EA app using this Steam user by Steam login.

It shows the TF2 game in EA libary as 'Steam managed' and owned.

As the game runs fine and lauches on my Steam Deck (Steam OS) si I really I want to keep it, but please help me to be able to run it on my gamer laptop too as it was running with Origin before.

The laptop meets spec RTX3070 GPU, 32GB ram, 4TB NV-SSD Ryzen 9 5900HX, Windows 10, latest AMD and Nvidia drivers.

    Regards,
    Miklos

    Hi @gammab_hun

To check a few things first,

    - Are the Steam and EA accounts being used linked together?

    - Do you have Origin installed on the new device or the EA app?

    - Are you trying to play with any mods?

Also, when you have a minute can you confirm if you've tried the following:

    Thanks!

  • HI EA_Illium!

    thanks for the reply.

My Steam account is linked to EA I checked it shows it on the myaccount page and also I log in to EA by steam user:

The Origin lancher not installed anymore, I checked in applications not listed there cannot uninstall.
I also searched registry and files and did not find signs of Origin.

I have no mods only some DLC which added by the purchase from Steam.

The strange thing is that it lanches and runs on my Steam Deck fine (Steam OS) but not on the windows gamer PC.

I made the cache clearing and uninstall reinstall EA app but does not help, no error or log where I could see what is going wrong.

I am a software developer so could read logs if there is any log EA app makes and you can point me what to check.

I attach the screenshots too now.

It still not lanching from EA app, only preaparing popup and Geforce experience popup on top right like game is starting but, EA says I don't own the game (say delux edition, so might recognise as different edition???) and start from steam.

If I start from steam is still 'preparing' but not lanching.

    Hey @gammab_hun

Thanks for going through those steps, would it be possible to get a DxDiag file?

Also which drive do you have TF2 installed to? (Your C driver, or another storage drive)

  • Hi!

    Thanks!

I have 512GB partitions on my 2x2TB NV-SSD and the install drive for TF2 is G: in my system as it is installed by Steam,
    G:\steam\steamapps\common\Titanfall2

    if the path.

I run DxDiag now and saved the info. As I see the file has Hungarian language as that is my loicale, I don't like Hungarian language for diagnostic/setting in computers, but need the settings for managing texts and keyboard for emails etc.

It looks like DxDiag using this as language.

I will try to install it on a different PC soon having RTX2070.

    Regards,

     Miklos
