Re: Titanfall 2 for Steam not launching (Origin says it's not installed)

Okay, good news, finally, I got the game running, and it was the simplest thing. I closed both Origin and Steam and then ran the Origin client as administrator (I didn't set it in the executable properties, I just right-clicked it and chose the option). Makes me wonder why I didn't think of this earlier, but what prompted me to do it was a line in the logs that mentioned Origin couldn't elevate a process because UAC prevented it... Let's hope this is all we need to do, and that no other issues show up.

  • Okay, bad news is someone on Steam I talked to previously, who had the same issue, tried this fix and it did NOT work for them. Guys, if anyone else manages to fix it by running Origin as administrator, please report it here, and tell us what you did to get it working.

I'll summarize my current setup here so others can try as well:

After all the attempts I tried, I uninstalled both TTF2 and Origin, installed Origin itself on drive E, and in the settings, I pointed the Library Location settings to the same library I used for Steam to download TTF2 (here, in my case: E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common). Then I had Origin open and cliked the Download button, which opened Steam and downloaded the game as usual.

After it all finished, I closed both Steam and Origin up and ran only Origin as administrator (specially since Steam throws a popup telling you that running it as admin isn't recommended). Then I tried clicking the Download button in the Origin library and it opened Steam, and a few seconds later, the game opened up as well. I did get a prompt for firewall permissions and all that, but not the account linking prompt some say we get (maybe I linked my account in the past, idk, both my accounts are rather old by now, I don't remember).

Anyways, that's it, let's hope this works for everyone.

  • I tried something like this I guess.

    - Downloaded the game from steam

    - launch the game (connect origin and steam profiles)

    - in the origin Lite client the game says is not downloaded

    - start downloading the game from origin Lite (in the same folder as the steam game)

    - then closing both clients steam and origin Lite

    - launch Origin (normal client) with Run as administrator option and steam as regular

    - the game by itself started "repairing" and it took 5 minutes to recognize the game

I hope the way I did this helps someone.

This game is best multiplayer and I'm so happy that now there's large base of people playing

  • @RPKn_69 Hi!
I did everything you told and did not get it to work :/ still giving me the same errors as for you in the first place...
  • Thankfully running Origin on administirator has solved the same problem of mine as well. Just to let you it worked for me when I right clicked and chose the run it on administrator thing. It didn't work when you tick the thing on compatability setings. Thanks for the solution 🙂

  • bro i did the same thing as you but origin just keeps resseting its so frusterating

  • @RPKn_69You mentioned that when you click download button in Origin it opens steam? Dude mine cant even detect Steam and it Offers Microsoft Store.
Up till now I couldnt figure out what seems to be wrong. I downloaded both Origin at D:  (Titanfall at D:/Steam/steamapps/common).

I've even pointed the origin library to the same address where titanfall is, ran it as administrator too, i mean like everything you said when you summarized your setup.
Damn, want to play the game so much, i feel disappointed right now.

    This solution worked for me

  • I got it to but when i uninstalled it and redownloaded it, origin would pull up this {error" / thing.

  • For me when I ran Titanfall 2 as admin I had to right click and run as admin, not go into properties, and set to run as admin every time.
