Titanfall 2 crashing during multiplayer

I am been playing Titanfall 2 as part of the free weekend and a problem with crashing has been getting worse and worse.  At first, I could play for multiple hours with no problems, but then I started to get crashes with the 0x887A006 message.  One crash after about 1.5 hours, then another after 45 minutes.  I looked around for a solution and tried to disable all background programs and restored the recommended settings for my set up.  Now it is even worse.  I get a straight crash with no message everytime I play a mutli-player game at random times during the match.  I am not sure if it is my system or the game itself.  I am pretty sure I have the latest AMD and DirectX drivers but I could be wrong.  I have also experienced some stuttering problems at certain times but they are not frequent.  Thanks.

Set Up:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz

AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series

16.0 GB RAM DDR3

EDIT:

After playing the game more at recommended settings except for the resolution (recommended 1600X900, set it to 1080), it ran mostly fine with a few stutters.  At one point in the game when I was melee killing another player, the game froze and crashed with no message coming after.  Thankfully, I had task manager on.  Two things I notice from the readings.  It appears that I am only using about 6 or 7 GB of the RAM I have.  I think this might be due to my computer being in 32-bit when it is suppose to be in 64-bit for some reason.  The other things is that right when the game was crashing, there was a massive spike in Disk 0 active time, which had it at 100% active time.  I am not the most tech-savvy person, so any help would be helpful.  Thanks.

  • I may try to disable all background programs that used some ingame overlay features and disable "Origin ingame" option in Origin for TF2

Alright, I will give that a try.  Thanks.

  • I experienced similar problems with gameplay and memory this week(started on 12/42016).  Somehow my Paging File was altered to reserve 24GB of 32GB installed for hardware, leaving only 7GB(or less) available.

I YouTubed "Paging File Fix" and tried several of the methods. Clearing the Cmos, after unsuccessful Regedit and MSconfig methods didn't work, restored my memory and may have reset the Paging File size. Didn't solve the "stuttering"/ low FPS or crashes though.

  • @EA_Archi No, I have not.  I will look into it. If there's something specific you suggest, send me a link. And yes, my drivers are up to date (AMD 16.11.5).

  • @EA_Archi I had not read MADrag0ns advice before previous reply, So, to correct myself, I have tried disabling my Afterburner overlay, as well as other non essential processes. Also, different resolutions and graphics setting combinations.  No other games are affected. Just TF2, and it just started recently.  I've been playing since day 1. May not be a coincidence that it happened after the Angle City update/release.

    Hello @Factor_317

Have you tried to Repair the game in Origin client? Reinstall the game completely? If afterward the issue is still there, perform Clean boot

Keep me posted on your progress.

    Cheers,

    Archi

  • Yes, to both. Last night I uninstalled the game for the second time, and then uninstalled GPU's and drivers from windows device manager then did a registry scan/clean. Restarted and scanned registry again. Did a clean install of latest GPU drivers and re-downloaded TF2 overnight (3hour DL). I haven't run the game yet to see if all that helped, I will do that when I get home from work and let you know if it worked or not.

@EA_Archi It is working great now!  It occurred to me that maybe I needed to so the same process (see previous post, I forgot to tag your ID)  with my Network adapter (Killer Ethernet 2200).  So,  when I got home (before even running TF2) I uninstalled my Killer Network Suite and drivers. Uninstalled the Network adapter from the Windows Device Manager. Restarted, ran registry scan/clean and Network Speed Test(Windows 10 app) with only the Windows driver and discovered my ping (network delay) had gone back down to 31ms (where it was before last Network adapter driver update) from 47ms.  Played a match of TF2 and everything worked great.  Out of curiosity, I updated the Network Driver with the manufacturers (Killer Networking) latest Driver Only version, restarted and did another Network Speed Test.  The ping went back up to 47ms. I repeated the process, going back to the Windows driver version.

I can't say for sure if it was a clean GPU driver install or a clean Network Adapter driver install, but it is working the way it should.

I'm going to include my GPU driver process in this message and attach a NotePad .txt file.  Maybe it will help someone else.

    Thanx,

    Origin game graphics problem solver

Login to Windows as Administrator if necessary.

Download latest GPU drivers and save, preferably to Desktop or Downloads folder.

Download CCleaner (free version at piriform.com, to clean registry)

If able, in Origin and game, make notes of prefered graphics settings in game (just in case) and Cloud Save setting enabled, if not already. Config settings should not be removed by uninstall, to the best of my knowledge. They are usually stored in game folder in Documents folder.

Uninstall game, in Origin (*prefered) or Windows apps and programs.

Run/open CCLEANER and install (or other registry cleaner), Click Registry cleaner tab on the left and then click Scan for issues. Click Fix issues (all). Save Back Up if you want to.

Go to Windows Device Manager. Double click(expand) Display Adapters. Right click GPU(GPU's) and uninstall. Check Delete Driver the Software if applicable.

    Restart PC

Log in as administrator if possible

Windows should install generic or manufacturers basic GPU drivers automatically.

Run CCLEANER Registry cleaner again just to make sure there are no residual conflicts/issues. Close CCleaner.

Find previously downloaded GPU drivers, right click and run as administrator.

When installed, you will likely be prompted to restart. Restart PC.

After restart, set desired resolution by right clicking Desktop background and selecting Display settings/properties. Click Advanced Display Properties near bottom of page/window. If you need to set specific resolution and refresh rate, do so in the Display Adapter Properties. Apply settings and close all windows.

Open Origin and download/install game. When complete, I'd close Origin and restart PC, then open Origin and start game. You may choose to just start the game when it is ready/complete.

Check or set graphics settings and start game/match.

I hope this solved the problem.  @Factor_317
