I did not have another XBOX One game to try as one of the other posters had success with.
I was able to fix my flickering issue by unplugging the entire system so it was getting no power at all. Just turning the console off had no effect on the flickering. This worked for my system - it seems like there are a number of fixes.
Even though the game saves to the cloud, I was concerned with losing progress in case there was some quirky link to your saved game. At level 7 I would not have started over again. It is nice to know that re-installing didn't cause problems.
