The only answer I get from chat advisor is about a PC connectivity issue. I'm on xbox one. I was at least a level 16 or so and worked up to a 26 before stopping to find out I'm now back at a level 1. ...
My case with Microsoft got sent to the advocacy team and will know within 24 hours....
I just spoke to one of the Xbox Ambassadors, and he informed me that Microsoft is working on a fix that will return all lost XP to players. We were both confused as to why MS hasn't released a statement saying this to reassure everyone, but I guess they want everyone to keep guessing.
Anyways, good to know (hopefully) that MS is actually fixing the present issue.
Edit: Not sure how reliable the Ambassadors actually are, but he seemed confident in his response.

MS won't release any kind of statement like that because its not guarenteed that they can even fix this. We might be **bleep** out of luck, they wont make any promises about anything like that.
And as for the mac address fix that sounds absolutely pointless... Microsoft maintains the servers with the data (EA confirmed) and the issue isn't client-side....
And oh yeah, as for what we got for the "trouble" someone was wondering:
While I was on the phone the MS tech told me I was going to receive an email with a free game credit for the problems and I said "awesome!" and gladly thanked him very much. Little did I know what I received was a link notifying me of the already free "Killer Instinct" title that I downloaded in November like day three.... What a JOKE, damn you MSsssssssssss
