3 spades per neighbour visit?!?! are you bothering?
Personally I'm still visiting as i can use the extra spades, then again i visit most days even when there's no event on.

I need cash (and donuts), so I visit all of my neighbors. Most of my characters are earning small amounts of fertilizer and corn, so I am not bringing in too much from the rest. I have $1 million banked, but I am aware of how costly it can be to play for bonus donuts. That money was supposed to be my Helen Lovejoy fund.
