I've been working on spacing out my trees but I like your idea of creating spaces w/more than one building. I've got a few areas like that already, but I think I need to develop some more. I don't really remove bonus items.

Thanks for letting me know it's a coding limit.. I was thinking that might be the case. I went over to Squidport and removed most of the fences I had there (now the poor characters are going to drop right off into the water and drown ::snif:: ) but it had to be done.

I put away several light posts and some fountains. The town "looks" the same but I know these items are missing :neutral:

I recently removed all my fences and a ton of bushes and flowers because I bought too many flag bundles. :D Town looks pretty much the same but I know it when I see it :'( I bought 20 minnow ponds To maintain the rating and hid them.

My device doesn't have any problems running this game either (I don't recall saying that it did) The messages are (in all cases) recommendations to avoid potential performance issues.

If you're having performance issues, follow the recommendation. If not, ...do what you like.

I don't think we're on the same page. The message I received is not a recommendation of any kind. It's a notice telling me that absolutely no additional items can be added to the game. It's different from the other notice, that is a recommendation. Hope this clears things up :)

I just spent a few hours working in my town removing trees, bushes, fences, lamp posts, flowers, etc. Hopefully this buys me more time before I get "that" message again lol :D

I think the problem here is that you’re conflating two different kinds of game messages. The first class is the Building Warning notice, which the user starts seeing periodically around 6.5K and which warns that the user may start seeing performance issues if the number of decorations exceeds 6400. (As an aside, in another post you speculate that these warnings are device dependent; this is not the case.) These warnings address the the reality that — especially with older devices that have a limited amount of memory — game performance may start to suffer after the number of decorations surpasses some value.

The second is the Too Many Buildings message that the user encounters when they hit the hard-coded item cap (which is currently somewhere around 9.2K iirc). This isn't a warning — it’s a statement that lets the user know that they will not be allowed to place additional decorations without first selling/storing an equivalent number already in place.
