About the neighbors threads...

Posting messages to your neighbours might not be against the forum rules but it shouldn't be allowed in a game discussion part of the forum. I come on this section to actually read threads related specifically about the game. These neighbour threads are completely irrelevant and should be in a different section, I curiously went on one of them earlier and posters were talking about their household items and what they are been up to. It's crazy. Earlier 6 out of the 8 new threads on the first page was a "to the neighbours of" and the majority of people don't want to see that. Your point earlier of there is no event or anything going on with the game at the moment is an extremely weak argument as well, just because there is no big event on doesn't mean there isn't game discussion to be held.

And what do you mean there were several objections to a devoted thread that you 'tried' to make.. Objections or not a devoted thread or section is what this forum needs, it's turning into just spam everywhere for most users.

I have not used any capitals letter in this thread as I don't want to be accused of screaming at people on a forum again :roll:

Shockingly, we all do have a life outside of this game and there shouldn't be multiple threads everywhere telling neighbours why you can't go on for a few days.

Actually, I can say that you screamed. The thread that said terrible things was removed.
Read the forum rules regarding callouts, because that is also what you were doing.

As I've repeatedly said, messages to neighbors are about the game. This is game discussion. There's not a better place for them, especially with "finding friends" not working properly and thus not being highly trafficked.

I mean that the majority of users said that they wouldn't check the thread on the off chance one of their neighbors posted there. They would prefer threads on main page. So that's what we get.

I think you missed the point. A couple years ago, I wouldn't have given any thought to one of my digital neighbors no longer playing. Now, I've got a neighbor who hasn't logged in for a week, and I'm concerned something might have happened in RL. I'd want to hear it's something like a temporary wifi problem.

Today's run of neighbor threads seems to have started with a fun post by Moxxee, and I'm grateful to have him around keeping the forum lively.

When someone I know from the forum goes missing for more than a week I look here to see if they posted something to say why. This is the best place to put the thread because, as mentioned earlier, it is game related. It may not be related to your game, but it is relevant to others. I am one of the people who can't use the Finding Friends part of the forum - the system will not allow me to post there. I don't have time to pm approximately 100 people individually to give them a heads up if I'm away or sick. A thread here in GD will be seen by the majority of my forum neighbours - this is the section they would likely check or more likely see it.

The dedicated thread was a great idea, but it didn't work. It gets buried quickly during events - and even in between events. The individual threads still catch people's eyes even if it gets buried because it is specific. So even if it gets pushed back to page 4, it is still easily seen if you are looking for an individual.

If you don't like a thread, or are annoyed by the subject matter, you can easily ignore it by not opening it. If the first page of this section of the forum contains topics you don't like, it is easy to navigate to page 2 or 3 etc. to find things that you do want to read.

And actually there definitely could be a better place for all these neighbour threads but it is evident that you don't want anything to be done about or actually organised properly. But in the situation you have just said to me why is it necessary for a complete thread about it? If you are worried about a neighbour that hasn't logged on for over a week then a simple PM is all you need to do.
