So at the end of all this what happens to our towns? Do they come unplayable or can we still build? I for one would like to keep building.

Man this sucks that the game is ending after all these years with so much content that could have been added. With EA dropping the game will someone else pick it up? That would be great if it were to happen. I was with the game from day one man.
Some of Us have spent money good money on character and donut purchases this is clearly a disgraceful way to treat loyal customers I'm appalled.
Few things are eternal, in the face of the infinite time is irrelevant, material items decay, rot and perish.
Yet here we are, the intangible the memories live on. I recently reinstalled this game out of pure curiosity, for old times sake.
Here I am facing the inevitable. I quit because of the events, they had stopped being what I had expected and became more and more basic in my opinion. Gone was the day that I had something I looked forward to.... something to tap.
Much of my town will remain unfinished, even til the end, why?
This game had potential, the content, the events the community. As such their is still much left to do, but much left unwritten. While I wish I could have my town saved as a screensaver (the kind when your friends visit you and all the townspeople are doing outdoor visual tasks) I'll be content with taking a couple screenshots.

That's mad. I would like to have had the opportunity to continue to build. Ok granted no not events but there's stuff I've stored over the years that I would loved to have put out. Man this sucks.
It's whats annoyed most people, we have spent up to 12 years building our towns, alot of people have actually put real money into buying things to put into our towns and come the end of January, we lose it all.
I wouldn't be too fussed if we could download our town and simply continue building keep the jobs going, building and re-designing towns. But alas no

It's fitting to see you here at the end, it's almost reassuring, trust me it's quite reassuring yet having heard the news of the shutdown recently... It's some consolation.
Ive deleted some games before, they went offline and I've never seen them again. Those that went offline but can still be found?
Can't connect to server, update, error, etc.
That said, I've become a fan of lost media in the last couple of years, while this would almost feel like this game would one day fall into that category, the forums and community that built it up would most definitely not let it remain forgotten. Not now, not ever.

I have decided to contact UK trading standards as a lot of users of the app have spent a lot of money on buying in game purchases running into hundreds of pounds I have also emailed My local MP who was UK's previous attorney general

Where's that going to get you? Absolutely nowhere. No one forced you or anyone to purchase in app purchases or not. There's nothing anyone can do it's a game and games do come to an end.
I see i had a post on here removed. It wasn't a dig at EA, it was just i was wondering if EA could have asked us if we would be kept in the loop as we've spent a lot of money on the game and it might have been nice to see if we could have input on keeping it going. But we can't post anything. It's sort of thanks for the money but see ya.
EA does not own the Simpsons franchise. They had a licence deal with the owner, who was Fox but is now Disney. For whatever reason that deal is not being renewed.
If you rent an apartment and put money into paint etc, and the lease expires and is not renewed, you don't get your rent or investments back.
Everyone should know going into it that the game will eventually end. They all do.
I put money into the game, and got hours of fun out of it. No regrets. I'm not owed anything.
