Accidental house tapping
There is an option to turn it off. Open up the build menu and tap the "i" in the top right corner, then check the box for confirm donut spending.

I have to agree. I found this post by Google searching my frustration. At first I was spending all my donuts all the time to speed up the houses by accident. Then i learned about "confirm donut spend". This helped, however it did not stop be from wasting my only 6 donuts that were all earned from level ups recently. I want my donuts for premium content. Part of what makes this game fun is having to wait while things build. I would very much like to turn OFF the donut spending OPTION (NOT CONFIRM OPTION).
I will gladly spend $100 of dollars on premium content because i have a problem lol. I just don't want to spend it on building speeding up.
The building I sped up by mistake was the Krustyland gift shop. I was building it for a quest to have Comicbook guy shop at it. I knew how long it took to build so I put Comicbook guy on the happy little elves ride. He was not going to be ready until after it was built. So the speedup gained me absolutely nothing.
Well at least I feel better that I am not alone.
