Father's Day is a made up event as far as I know. It certainly doesn't relate to the Church. I believe it was done to promote equality and show how both parents need appreciation from their offspring (hint, hint sons). I think it's the same with grand parents day.

I don't mind the cards and flowers for those that like it, but I really do think that many of the 'celebratory days' are just another excuse to garner more sales.

I suspected Fathers Day was a more recent made-up thing, but wasn't sure, thanks. As for Grandparents Day, well to be a Grandparent you first need to be a Mother or a Father, so that's a bit like double-dipping! Grandparents Day hasn't caught on over here in Australia, other than something they do in schools really.

It's the liberals in teaching that have created Grand Parents day over here, someone has relatives in the states and brings it over and it spreads out just like that. Having said that, with more families having to have dual earners to put bread on the table Grand Parents are being hit on for free child minding, so appreciating the help is a good thing, just don't think we need an official day for it.;)

Getting an update for Mothers Day will be like me getting a "Happy Mums Day" from one of my 4 kids, lol it'll never ever happen.
So as per the last 26 years I'm scrubbing walls, and cleaning windows before winter sets in.
How do I know I won't get mums day, the kids cleaned out my purse and went on holidays yesterday.

That's neat! I've seen a few people say their first Spuckler arrives tomorrow. I have nine days left on mine.

They don't do that 2nd sunday of May stuff in Mexico (Where i grew up). It's always celebrated on May 10th

Mine too.

It is Mother's Day in Canada too. It also happens to be my birthday, so I'm "hopping" for something nice. :D
