I'v built and placed all SH houses etc., and I realise that the earning goes faster, but as said, it's about 20 Donuts a day, not more, harvesting always Kwik-E-Marts every 4 hours. I always build 21, which now amounts to roughly 1.25 Mio XP plus 3-6 donuts, depending on whether there is one rollover during harvesting or two.
I'm in your situation as well. I don't like the looks of a house farm and that sets you back a lot regarding income and in a wider aspect, donuts. I build 32 KEM's every four hours and try to spend my donuts on items that will have a multiplier but doing the whole mystery box and have a town flooded with news vans and Itch n Sctrachy billboards isn't my cup of tea either so I'll just have to grind slooowly. It takes a while but you should be able to buy at least something with a 2 % multiplier second day or so and that adds up quickly. I've gone from about 170% to over 300 % in just a couple of months.
