No, you just have to delete them as they come.

I think the most sensible thing is when anybody adds a friend the code should check if there is space on that person's friends list and if there is not then cancel the request without the other person being affected.
To me this is basic logic.
What I find a wee bit annoying is that it would be quite nice to have some of the friends changing. I don't really want to cull people. Also as an android user I can only remove people by blocking them on origin. Which is extreme and I may sure having a big blocked list would one day cause a problem.
