Barney

Wow is that how much he costs, that does seem really expensive, I was able to get him when he was a prize in the first winter event. He is no different to any other premium character really, with all of his task earning double amounts. He doesn't contribute to heights or the monorail in any way either.

His tasks include

Eat at Krusty burger - 30m
Attend AA meeting - 60m
Sober up - 4h (live task)
Drink at Moes - 8h
Sleep in gutter - 12h (live task)
Be a pin monkey - 16h
Go on a binge - 24h (live task)

He of course comes with Barneys Bowlarama, which creates 16h tasks for some of the other characters to go to.

He is also voiced.

Was he a prize? Damn, i came like 2 events late to the game :( I have even skins for him in the inventory. Guess I won't have him in at least a few months.

Yeah sorry, he was one of the final prizes in the 2012 winter act.

Seem to recall Barney being released with a rebate (sometime last year I think ) and it reduced his price to around half, but I think that was the first time that he had ever been for sale at a reduced price since he first became purchasable.

Edit : P.s it's worth KEM farming even if you only do 6 or so at a time(you don't have to have a huge farm ) as any donuts are better than non.

Honestly I would spend 200 to buy beach hideaway to get percentage up by 100% then start collecting for Barney again. Honestly, 250 is in incredible amount of money for just a character and the building without any multiplier. Also you should really rethink Farming.

There was a bundle offer in January 2016 during the Deep Space Homer event of the Bowlarama, Barney and Astonaut Barney skin for 250D with a 130D rebate, so a net cost of 120D.

His tasks do not earn double amounts, they pay the usual 'premium' amounts.
He DOES help out with Springfield Heights jobs, he has an 8 hour job for pills.

Speaking personally, the question of whether or not Barney is “worth” the asking price has less to do with his jobs and payouts and more with his status as a critical character in the Simpsons universe.

well, it's also a thing of how many chars you already have.

i, for example, have over 190 chars, so getting Diabetty when I have 80% of the people in the game was worth it for me. if you don't have the basics and still collecting just 200 donuts, then to me getting Barney at 250 is crazy if you can up your % by 100 for less than that price.

Just a different perspective, but I am always going to opt for a character over a building.
