Building library help

Hey Jen, your town needs to be at level 12 and you have to have completed part 3 of the "Bart crusoe" quest. Hope this info helps :)

did you do Skipping Rocks (Make Bart skip school)?

I've tried it even though I wasn't prompted to do it. Still nothing  if you don't have the answer to this LPN then there's just no hope :? :? :?

The library and the general hospital are two of the building quests that seem to give trouble getting triggered. (I searched "library trigger" and see there are some old posts on the subject ... suggestions varied, and I don't know whether they succeeded.)

The following series is definitely NOT certain to work, and it is sort of tedious because of all the syncing you'll need to do but if it were me, I would try it, if only for the M&M part (Which requires all the other parts, so don't think you can cheat and just skip to the M&M's and declare victory.)

Once you complete Step One, if Step One doesn't work, the remaining steps should take about 30 minutes.

    STEP ONE:
Look at your taskbook. You're not to SquidPort, KrustyLand, or Springfield Heights yet, so in your taskbook should be only two things: Tasks related to the Halloween Event, and tasks NOT related to the Halloween Event. You may have skipped something that popped up, that seemed unnecessary. Feel free to post a list of what is in your taskbook here in the thread ...

IF any NON-Halloween tasks pop up during ANY of the steps below, complete them. If it seems that you are going in circles, feel free to post in this thread. It is possible that the game is starting to give you random tasks.

If you still don't get the trigger, try the following:

    STEP TWO (About 4 minutes):
Store these buildings ... You probably have these buildings.
    Kwik-e-Mart
    Brown House
    Flanders House
    Cletus Farm
    Purple House
    Krusty-Burger
    Blue House
    Van Houton house
    Pink House
    Elementary School
    White House
    Willie's Shack
    Gulp n' Blow
    Nuclear Plant (Cooling Towers)
    Nuclear Plant (Reactor Core)
    Nuclear Plant (Control Building)
    Bart's Treehouse

    STEP THREE:
If you have any of the following, store them too. You almost certainly do NOT already have them, but you just might ...
    Orange House
    Java Server
    Jakes

    STEP FOUR: (10 seconds)
Have one handful of Peanut Butter M&M's

    STEP FIVE: (30 seconds)
Go to your friends screen and back, to synchronize your game.

    STEP SIX: (30 seconds)
    Log out and close TSTO
Force-close the game, and clear the cache (I know that's what I do on android)

    STEP SEVEN: (around 10 minutes)
If you happen to have ten minutes free, uninstall and reinstall your game. This is probably a ludicrous suggestion and makes no sense, but the benefit is twofold: First, it eliminates any doubt, and if these steps don't work and you come back to tell us, and someone says "did you try uninstall and reinstall", you can say "Yes". Second, it gives you time for more Peanut Butter M&M's. (Eat as many as you can until the game reinstalls, except keep enough in reserve for the end, for celebration or consolation, depending on how this all ends.)

STEP SEVEN: (depending on your device ... a minute maybe?)
    Reboot your device

    STEP EIGHT: (10 seconds)
While you wait for your device to restart, have one more handful of Peanut-Butter M&Ms

    STEP NINE: (About 10 minutes)
Take those buildings out of storage, one at a time, in the order above.
After EACH building, go back and forth to your friend screen to sync the game.

STEP TEN: (Depends on how many swear- words you know, and whether you bought the party size bag of M&Ms.)
If you do NOT get a trigger at some point (It should be for Bart to skateboard or skip school, probably), then eat as many Peanut Butter M&M's and mutter as many swearwords as you know, being careful not to speak with your mouth full because it is rude.

    STEP ELEVEN:
If you live long enough to complete steps one-through-ten, move on from M&M's to something more advanced (Twinkies are good), and come back to let us know whether it worked or not.

Ive just woken up and my brain can't for the life of me take all of this in but just want to say thank you so much for all of your suggestions and I will most certainly try all of them the very second I get a spare minute today (it's a busy one). All except the steps with peanut m & ms (they give me migraines  ). I'll replace the m & ms with Lindt dark chocolate

This is a weird glitch, and I'm interested to see how this pans out. Please keep us posted, OP!

I will definitely keep you guys updated.
  • In my experience with similar problems in my RTTF town, I figured out that each character can only be involved in some fixed number of possible tasks. "Task" here does not mean the character's task list, instead it is something internal to the program.

Triggering is counted as a task in this case. Bart is the character that triggers the Springfield Library quest. Look to see what other possible tasks Bart currently has. I don't mean his task list. I mean things Bart might do around your town. For example, do you have the Glass Depot? If so, and if it is not full, then Bart has a possible task there. He may have a possible task at the campfire that is being counted by the program even though you have not reached that point yet. Definitely any task Bart has in your task book would count. The idea would be to get some of those done to the point where the code will let Bart trigger the Library quest.

In a similar situation, I needed Burns to trigger a quest. But Burns had too many things on his plate. I finally figured out that if I topped off the Coffee Shop, which is a possible task for Burns, and then stored the Cooling Tower, and synced, then when I brought out the Cooling Tower, Burns' possible task list would be recomputed and he triggered the quest. It worked for me.

Good luck with this. It can be really frustrating to get stuck like this.
  • Okay just thought I'd update you:
I did all of Annette's very helpful steps except for the peanut m & ms part for reasons stated above. Alas after all of the synching and the rebooting and the taking things in and out of inventory and etc etc etc... Still didn't work

I'm at level 13 and this is what is in my task bar:

The call of the campfire part 4 (which seems to be the problem)
Flaw and order part 3 (need to capture SSB 4 more times)
The devil wears blue part 4 (can't complete until level 15)
Something for the resume (SVT task)
Scream depot part 2 (Apu's tie in tasks)

If anyone has any other ideas I'll be up for anything

  • I have the same problem :?

I'm at level 13 and next thing I have to do is build the library but the task doesn't trigger. :x

Bart may be "involved" with that "Flaw and order" quest, in the sense that he may have dialogue. It's a long shot. At your level you should be able to catch SSB in Other Springfield. You can go to OS, get SSB, go to the friend screen, and then go right back in OS to get SSB again. Over and over again. That will satisfy the quest and you'll get money and XP. In RTTF, a number of us used this method with SSB to finish this quest and to make a lot of easy $$.

Once that "Flaw and order" quest task is done, see if you get dialogue from Bart. In any case, then store the tree house, sync, and then take the tree house out again. That will rebuild Bart's game-internal list, and hopefully will cause him to trigger the library quest.

Judging by Neglecterino's post I'd say, if you have the Glass Depot, fill it up. Then store the treehouse, force sync, and place the treehouse again. If that doesn't work I'd contact EA support.

Yep, that would also remove an item from the game-internal list for Bart.
