Can't farm Friends since Halloween Update 2014

The only things you can click in your neighbors' town during the Halloween event are the aliens and the UFOs. And you can click the alien egg icon in the upper right to drop a grem-alien in the town.
If you're not seeing any aliens, then your neighbors haven't updated yet. But it seems unlikely none of your friends would have not updated. Are they all at 0 points on the leaderboard?
