Chances next update includes land

I like people with a positive outlook, because I certainly don't have one - generally speaking. And I say giving new land a 75% chance is very positive indeed.

I look at it this way - there's been what? 58 updates, and one has included new land for SF. The chances of the next upcoming update or any particular update including new land are exceedingly small if the past is any indication. Because EA has only added land once, it makes it difficult to guess what kind of timeline is reasonable to expect another new land drop.

Thusly, I voted zero percent.

Under the context that squidport is an annual update or at least more than a one time event, that statement could mean that more land will be granted during the next squidport update.

I think it's a bit of a leap to presume that an (as of now) one-time update is or will be annual. While it's true that the tense of "except during the squidport update," is mildly ambiguous since no indicators can really be put on those words, a different phrase would (likely) be used to indicate the future tense. Something like, "unless there's another squidport update," or "except for the next squidport update." But since there was a squidport update in the past, and it did include land, the logical presumption is that Homer was speaking in the past tense about the update we know for sure exists. Until there's a stronger indicator to the contrary, I will take it as a throwaway joke rather than a promise.

Check out this link: *external link removed*

17 buildings are listed as being on squidport (Frying Dutchman not one of them). 8 of which were released in the squidport update last year. That leaves 9 more buildings they could release for Squidport. It's not a guarantee they will, just a possibility. I'm not sure an additional squidport update is a leap. And personally I think if the already space restricted squidport sees an update, I think the water and land could see another expansion. That's just what I think. I could be wrong, but feel good about the likelihood. They didn't load land in the files for nothing. And that quote is way too vague to say one way or the other. Plus...rumors of the camera changing and landing zones going amiss...seems like they are planning a big update with land included.

    Quoted without link.

Homer said "except during the Squidport update". Not 'updates'. That points to singular. I agree with Neuroheart.

(Not saying there won't be new land, just that the Homer line isn't an indication)

Nah...this phrase is just vague and can be read one way or the other. The phrase "except during the Squidport update" could also allude to the coming Squidport update, which is also singular in context. The use of 'updates' would imply land with every squidport update. Maybe there is just one more squidport update. Maybe they only plan a land expansion on the next squidport update. Also both singular in context.

They don't use words like next, last, or only. So there is no definitive answer. I'm not saying that quote is indicating a future update for sure, just that it is possibility. And in my opinion, a strong possibility.
  • Where would new land with another Squidport update even go, though? The only place it can go is out to sea. That's not land, it's water.

I don't think that quote has anything to do with their plans for future land.

This is a good point. (More water would actually be lovely. I'd like to move the boardwalk away from the shore a little.)

Come on, you guys are nitpicking way too much. Sure...water, land, space, room, area...anything, plural/singular, past tense, prophey. We need more 'space' in Springfield.

Maybe they add one more water strip and one more land strip. More of a pier look would be good for squidport anyway. I guess we will see what happens.
