Changing Gameplay Philosophies

I'm amazed how many brown house farms have been built and jammed into the corner of people's towns lol

I always make sure to have at least six houses available to collect from so visitors don't need to come back later. It kind of annoys me when someone has a ton of brown houses but I can't collect because the person is always playing. So since I play very frequently, I don't want to cheap my friends and will continue to leave houses available!

I'm new to the social aspect and unwritten protocol of this game since I just added friends on the 7th although I've been playing since the Halloween update release.

Why can't we click the Simpsons house? There are tons of threads telling us to do that very thing because it generates every 45 seconds. I have some friends who only have the Simpsons and Flanders houses decorated even this many days into it (they are on the verge of being deleted because REALLY???). So, if I don't click the Simpson house then I don't get any coins.

So why are we not supposed to click it?

During usual gameplay you want to spray paint your neighbor's buildings to help with righteousness rating and they pay out money when they are vandalized. The next best thing to do is tap their high payout buildings because it resets the building payout timer giving them cash faster. With this update it seems as though in the spirit of Christmas giving the normal neighbor "protocol" has been suspended.

Ah! Before this week, it was just me and my son going it solo...or duo?? But we were doing that anyways because it helped with the righteousness rating. We just did the graffiti and then grabbed some random house. Didn't realize about the timer.

I wonder if the problem might also be that there are a bunch of new players or people like me who have never been into the social aspect so they just don't know?

I am doing the same thing that ThomasK is doing, if a building is decorated in my town I don't tap it. My characters and other buildings generate more than enough by themselves, so my neighbors usually have something to grab without waiting. (Unless I get another mad rush like today!)

Now house farming is a nice sight when I visit friends, better chance of collecting coins faster.

Yup, I did that a few hours ago to make it easier on my friends. I don't like farming, and don't have a lot of spare room in my moderately-sized Springfield, so I plopped my nuclear plant in storage and bought up 8 brown houses, just to make collecting a little easier for people. They will go away when the Christmas theme ends!

OK so thanks to you guys, I'm careful to find the high-timer houses and click those if they are decorated. However, I noticed that in my Springfield that without fail the Simpsons and Flanders houses are always with a handshake. Why? I logged into my sons' account and visited my Springfield.

I discovered that the first thing people see when they land are those two houses!

So I moved them way to the other end of my residential district. Now my brown house campground is the always with a handshake as are my high-timer houses if they are available when people visit.

Dcline414 - when I visit your Springfield, the first thing I see is Moes and the Police Station. Right above them within the same screen shot are the Simpsons and Flanders house. So I think it's not a matter of changing philosophy but more a matter of people just clicking the first decorated house they see.

What do you guys think?
