Device Full Message

I had the same message, and I know my phone is close to full so I just deleted a couple apps I don't use often and it worked. That said, if you already have space I don't really understand why you are getting the message.
  • I play on iOS but have had this problem in the past, sometimes having apps running in the background has effected the memory..not sure why, is there any apps you can delete so you can download the update?

It like when there an iOS update i had to delete LOADS of apps to get memory over a GBs worth but once the update was done i just put them back and all was good :)
  • There is a thread about this in bugs and issues.. i just bumbed it.. have the same problem even though my phone has more than 400 mb left
  • Thanks for the head's up, IndustryKill. I posted on the other thread, but I'll reply in here too in case anyone sees this. I cleared the cache from my most-used apps (Google Maps, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and that seemed to do the trick.

    Device Full

D'oh! There isn't enough storage space left on your device to download all of this cool stuff. Free up some space, and try again.

I have over a GB of internal memory left on my phone (Galaxy S4). There's no way the new update takes up a lot of memory, so this makes no sense to me. Anyone have this problem lately? Any way around it?

I've had this problem since February (the Valentine's Day update triggered it for me) ... since then, every single update, whether large or small, I get this error. I even opened a trouble ticket with EA support and they were utterly and completely unhelpful.

The problem is that the installer program they use for updates has a 'minimum space required' threshold so if your current free space on built-in memory (it will NOT include SD card space in calculations) is not of a certain size, you get this error.

In my testing (most recently this morning) I have found that it won't install until I have close to 600 MB of free space. And on Android, one of the biggest space wasters is all the Google apps that canNOT be uninstalled because, you know, Android.

One of the things you can do is move apps from main storage to your SD card (if you have an SD card, that is) ... that won't uninstall them, and only moves some data/files, but it does free up some space in main storage.

Also, you can simply uninstall any apps you don't need or use very often. If you want to, you can re-install apps after the TSTO update is installed ... the game will continue to play regardless of your free space, it's only the update installer that pitches a fit.

What I have found to be the simplest / easiest way to free up memory is to uninstall all the google app updates (google books, text-to-voice, search, chrome, hangouts, g+, etc. etc. etc.) even though you cannot uninstall the apps themselves. These google apps take up HUNDREDS of megs of space in total, about half that space is just for their updates, and personally I don't use ANY of them except for the Play store and sometimes search.

    Good Luck!

    what new update?

Yea i found it had to force stop by game to get it to start.
  • i cleared up the Download folder on C: and I had space enough but...
since there's a device full message it can mean... we have a bigger update coming? =D

youre welcome! I fixed mine by deleting the updates of all the unnecessary google apps that u cannot delete.. seems like TSTO needs about 500-600 mb of free data space to let people update... :-o

Btw thanks to MuleHeadJoe, your solution fixed my problem
