- brown_supaheroSeasoned NoviceI like the blizzard effect.
- blackgryphon9999Seasoned NoviceI was thinking the same thing. For those of us who are long time players, there's very little. It is nice for newer players who have a chance to get all the returning content, though.
- 4junk3000New SpectatorAs a long time player, I'm very happy with the content lately. My expectations are set very low though, because what the heck should a reasonable person expect from a game still going 10 years.

This update has been primarily new facades and new skins, not as many new buildings and new characters as past events.
It’s a bit disappointing considering past events this year.

Also very true - bluntcardRising RookieLove the facades and blizzard. Glad the game is still around.
- I love the snow effects for this event and have always enjoyed updating buildings with the seasonal facades, plus there isn’t any pressure to find new land as there’s been little real new content. On the downside though, there isn’t a single item in my mystery box which I would actually want for my town.

Agreed. Been playing this game since the beginning, and I’ve enjoyed this event. I’m not sure what they could do differently that would dazzle anyone, so I keep my expectations low and just have fun with it.- The idea to keep “expectations low” is setting such a low standard for this game. This game is one of my favorites and I have been playing from the start. Now by saying that I’m not over here expecting the most or anything, but at the same time just because a game has been around for 10 years isn’t an excuse to not get creative with the content.
The Simpson show it self has been around for 30 some years and still manages to bring new seasons with 22 episodes.
So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect something more then a blizzard effect and façades.
Examples being:
Buildings you can add attachments to
nature stuff like mini forests
Lakes and ponds
I can go on and on with stuff they could add. I’m not ignoring what they have already done but more would be better then less. - 4junk3000New Spectator

I doubt it’s the age itself that’s affecting creativity, it’s the reduction of income. How often do you spend money on this game? Are you buying the premium donut package with every new event? How many do?Would you spend money on "lakes and ponds"?
Go ahead and compare the income streams of a television show vs this game; which isn’t even realistic as without the show, the brand dies and all of the spin-off merch suffers. Maybe compare this game vs any new game.
Look at the attendance and participation in this forum alone. Traffic here used to crush every other game’s forum. The level of enthusiasm here is the lowest it’s been. When is the last time you posted a design in the Showcase? The lack of pride in town building is reflected there. So why would they develop more features for that purpose; especially when we are so limited for space and item count? They know that the handful of remaining "whales" who have historically spent cash, can’t fit many more items anyway.
Another possibility is the servers which host the game need updating, and the expense of that exceeds the revenue stream. We are well aware there’s been something wrong with the friend-linking aspect of the game for years and still not resolved. Why? Likely it’s expense. How many profiles have been purged for lack of play? I suspect none. I suspect the system we play on needs a pricey overhaul.
Meanwhile town building has always been secondary in this game. It’s not SimCity, it’s primarily a tapping game and always has been. Compared to any of those mindless bubble-popping games that just add more levels of the same ol’ action, this game is remarkably creative.
I can go on and on too, exploring possibilities why the game has lost its luster. It’s irrelevant. We are lucky this game still exists in a freemium format. They could monetize play even more and the game would exist but many of us would stop playing it, including my broke-ass. I’ve learned to be happy with what I have, before it’s gone. But I still support the game as best I can. I do at least post my enthusiasm for it in the Showcase every event. I wish everyone did. "4junk3000;c-2225386" wrote:

What'd you just call me? lol j/k. I have spent a stupid amount of money on this game over the years. No regrets."4junk3000;c-2225386" wrote:

You've inspired me. I've always been too embarrassed to post my always-work-in-progress, but I'll put it out there. I finally got the task glitch and beefed up my money and donut count so I can actually get the buildings and decorations released during the events. The donut bundles that include items/tokens still get me reaching for my wallet, though. If they want to try and rake in more income, that's the way to go.
