You've inspired me. I've always been too embarrassed to post my always-work-in-progress, but I'll put it out there.
Yay thats great! - 4junk3000New SpectatorIdk, SA; if it were a town building game, i expect there would be town building goals, like Sim City. There would be more advances to the building tools in the game. In ten years, we got the Area Select tool, IRS, and UE Office. I see this as only a virtual collecting game. We do what we are directed to do, and we are awarded virtual items that "completionists" try to get all of.
Gross doesn't tell me much about how profitable it is. Sounds impressive though i agree.
I'm glad you spend money on the game. Thanks for doing that! But i think you are in the minority these days. Most of the big spenders that used to be here are gone. I've kept link to their towns but they don't play anymore. This forum is just one example. I don't see much traffic on Facebook or the other two forums.
I do see lots of "add me's" from noobs. I suspect there's always fresh new players dropping a few bucks on it and moving on. Most of the new players i add as neighbors, get deleted in a few months because i rid anyone not playing daily during an event.
But this is not the subject at hand. The subject is expectations of content and whether it's reasonable to be disappointed in it. You are welcome to your opinion that it IS reasonable, because lowered expectations after 10 years somehow sets some "standard" to low; as if EA isn't trying harder because we are letting then get away with it.
That's cool. "4junk3000;c-2225530" wrote:

Yes I do believe both our opinions are valid and we are entitled to them. I’ve never played sims so I Can’t compare it to that, but I would suggest doing a google search in which you will find it is a city building game. Regardless if your standards are low and mine are high it’s clear we are both fans of this game!! You should add me as a friend I’d love to see your town.- 11EEveyHero+It could be no content. After that 2-3 month period with NOTHING at all and we thought the game was toast, I'll take whatever they give me and be happy it is still here for us to complain about. It isn't low expectations. It is called realistic expectations.
- 11EEveyHero+Back to the original question, i am fine with facades as prizes, which are free gameplay. I have very little room in my town. Every event cannot add 20 buildings to the town.
How is actually having events a "vengeance"?
Should they add even more items that you have to purchase with real cash every event? Most players would scream bloody murder if they did that. That is the only way they earn money right now as players farm donuts to buy stuff with donuts. Do you buy them every event? Do you still buy donuts? Offering items for donuts doesn't really make them any money.
There are many indications that their dev team is small and has been since 2018:
Events are pretty bare bones with no crafting , no tappables and no visiting. they don't have enough people to add those features and or the code is getting so bad it would strain it too much
Game issues can linger for months or years before they get fixed. This is the one that worries me. Used to be when there was a game issue it would get fixed in the next couple updates. some issues have been around for over 2 years. It isn't that they don't care, they just cannot get to it.
But I am not trying to convince you. You can believe as you wish. But you will not convince me either and that is ok. I love this game and will play whatever they give us until they turn the lights off and close the door. - 4junk3000New Spectator

I agree with all of this. Taking the interim event format, and using it for every single event from there on , is definitely not “back with a vengeance”. It’s phoning in the absolute minimum.
Which I’m just saying I appreciate at this point, because something is better than nothing; which I experienced and didn’t like at all.
11EE makes another good point… If this was a town building game there would be no limit to how many features can be placed on the ground, except the size of the ground itself. They call it one because that’s what gamers like me want. It’s bait n switch. This game Is simply reward addiction like a slot machine, disguised as a town building game. Take off the building restrictions and I’ll reconsider this opinion "4junk3000;c-2225579" wrote:

We just have different perspectives on the game. It seems the repeated event format has been just bare minimum for you thus in turn has created not much expectations.
For me it’s not the event itself in which I care about it’s the content they offer in such events that do it for me.
Examples being:
the water park
The circus
The dog showcase
The race track ( without crafting)
Halloween event items are always good
So when I see an event especially a holiday event with not much to offer yes I get disappointed, because I am one who enjoys the designing/ building aspect of this game, & not so much the event it’s self. Me stating it’s a city building game is not MY opinion, it is a fact. As much as you disagree with me on this again a simple Wikipedia search will confirm such. It clearly states Tapped out is a city building game.
PS. Your town is pretty awesome ?
I didn’t even know it was possible to put water where the mountains are. I’m not exactly sure how to do that but I plan on figuring it out lol- bluntcardNew TravelerI truly think the reason the events are boring is because the interesting features bogged down the game. Because there is no consistency in what people play the game on, they had to come up with a way that would give the majority of players a smooth game play and that meant getting rid of having so many things going on at once in the game.
I remember it taking a half hour to download a huge event and I remember the ENDLESS complaint threads about the game crashing and freezing, or some never being able to download the ginormous files for a new, complicated ( super fun ) event.
That being said, when I watch a Simpson's episode I'm constantly seeing characters and decorations that would easily be a better choice to add to the game than most of the current content.
Also, all children should be able to trick or treat from the Nightmare Pile at once.
Thank you, I'm done. Happy New Year Everyone! - When you consider the Devs are churning out, or phoning in if you wish, 6 mini events and 6 multi events a year and finding 150 items for those prizes it's reasonable that some will be a hit and some will be a miss.
Personally I'm easily pleased and glad they got events going again, and can see a benefit to facades for both noobs and long time tappers - not much demand on land space or item count.
I'd imagine a noob would be more likely to be torn between those benefits and the desire to add things that earn or add bonus. I recall one old event where I got the final prize and groaned aloud " I've done all that bl**dy grinding for a flippin' skin !! " but once the next event hit it's " * rubs hands * let's see what I need to do to get these ".
Just like there's no right or wrong way to tap, it's your game to play as you like, there's no right or wrong opinion on whether an item or event is good or bad.
I'm not sure there's anything left to add on this so perhaps it's time to step away from the thread ?? - I just want to say I appreciate this thoughtful discussion. It’s very interesting reading the differing opinions of long time players that both have a love of the game!
