The Nightmares also gravitate towards you when you stand still on a road near the landing zone. Yeah, it takes time, but it's only for 30 friends.
Besides, collecting Nightmares from Friends is not as important as dropping Blobs.
Drop as many blobs as you can, then go back through and collect. But You will only benefit from collecting Neighbors Nightmares if they match what you are collecting. Otherwise the items just go in storage.
Personally, I'm just dropping blobs.
