I sympathise with you as i've spent almost 8 months saving up 80 donuts to get the Aztec Theatre, it'll probably take me another 8 months to save up for the next premium item i want, just keep tapping...

I think Total Tapper got like over 250 free donuts, at least. He had over 1 million goo collected!! Plus the other free donuts given out playing, and the Mr. Burnsum mystery answer with Lisa, and 10 other free for Halloween alone, it was the best donut earning event since the stocking giveaway of Xmas 2012. Without a doubt!
But like someone else said, go to Krustyland and pop the balloons, every 8 hrs if you can, and you'll get 5 free every 33 days or so. Plus leveling up and bonus levels, it starts to earn much more quickly. And ALWAYS log in on Holidays or events, like this Super Bowl Sunday, because you'll either get free donuts or a free premium item that will increase your multiplier, thus leveling up quicker. Trust, it takes time, but you can get ahead if you want to.
