PS: How come you're not a Moderator anymore?
I was thinking the same thing. :!:
I noticed they added a couple of new mods yesterday but they didn't update the mods in the rules thread. It seems like they did that today.
Also I've never seen Bravewall get so mad and cuss before either. I remember when Bravewall gave me warnings when I did!
Odd things are happening here!
I don't have the time to do it, so I passed the position to someone else.
I doubt I gave you any warnings about swears. You would have needed to be maliciously habitually swearing every other word for me to even raise an eyebrow. Of course I'm sure many people will remember mod actions I made in a very profound way, but for me... it was Tuesday. :P
I think it was because I used a symbol to bypass the filter. It wasn't anything bad, but rules are rules.
That makes sense though. Real life comes first. I just didn't expect it I suppose. :)
Well I seem to recall somebody spreading a lot of rumours about me being an abusive control freak, so if your surprised that I'd willingly give up control then I suppose you've heard those rumours.
I never heard anyone say you're a control freak actually!
I thought you were a good moderator. Whoever said you're a control freak must be smokin something or broke too many rules on here. I honestly don't come on here for gossip, so I must have either ignored a comment like that or didn't even see a thread that it was in. I just come here to read new things or ideas about the game and move on. I even stopped going on the off topic section. Well mostly stopped. I check in from time to time. Point is I think all the moderators are doing an excellent job. Maybe I just don't notice the little things as much because I'm not on here 24/7, and avoid annoying the mods. :lol:mdawny wrote:
I've never had a problem with this until the latest event update. The alarm noise is very unnerving.
And very realistic. At first, I didn't even realise it was coming from my phone. I live near a container yard and a rail line, so I thought that the siren was either coming from the yard, or was related to railway maintenance work that was happening that weekend.
Then I went to work. The first time it went off, everyone, including me, was saying "What was that?". I helpfully offered the info that I'd heard it at home over the weekend. The next time, I realised that it was my phone. I tried to make it stop, but it went off again. And again. One of my colleagues had lived in New Zealand for a while, and she said it was freaking her out because it was the same sound as the NZ earthquake alarm.
I eventually found that the only way to stop it was to go Settings>Apps>TSTO and uncheck the Notifications box. The weird thing was that I had never had this problem before on that device (Android phone), and that it wasn't happening on my Android tablet, even though all I'd done there was turn down the volume.4junk3000 wrote:
Have you tried turning off notifications for the Google Play store too?
I have that one off as well. Pretty much all my notifications are off except gmail and hangouts. But I'm not having a problem, and while it's being reported frequently, it's also not widespread.
I've been doubting other reporters having both settings (in game and app settings) set to off, but I trust you as a competent (ex)mod should be able to handle that. Only other thing I could suggest is the old stand by, uninstall/reinstall? Then of course switch them back off and see if they take effect.
Really weird...
I don't understand what unchecking the google playstore notifications has to do with the TSTO app rechecking its notifications all by itself, but I am willing to try anything, short of uninstalling permanently.
Its just incredibly frustrating, after how many times these notifications have popped up at really inconvenient moments in the last few weeks, while I've been under the assumption that turning the app notifications off would keep them off. After all the spam I've removed from this forum, the least EA could do is not spam me and my livelihood.- 4junk3000New SpectatorWell, I have assumed that the in-game switch controls notifications that come from the timers in your own game. So when a task completes, you'll hear from it.
Meanwhile, the app settings switch controls notifications coming from the game servers, like when someone visits your town. Two different sources of notification alarms and two different switches to control them.
So a third possible source of alarms could be the play store, which also could push announcements from the game developer.
I agree, idk if the play store switch is associated. But I'm not the one having notifications trouble me. Both of my droid tabs are quiet. Just trying to think what else you could try.
Good luck! Bravewall wrote:

I disabled the notifications via my phone settings instead of in-game. Haven't had any problems since.
On Android, go to Settings, Apps, Tapped Out, and uncheck "Show Notifications."
Dunno about iOS, but I'm sure someone can explain that process if that's what you're using.
That is exactly what I do. I've been unchecking that box for weeks now, and the Push notifications keep coming back. I could just turn of all my notifications, but that would turn off my email alerts too. I shouldn't have to do that.
Wow, that's weird. I've never had the App turn back on the notifications from the Android settings. Usually it just resets its internal settings. Did you uninstall/reinstall recently? That might have caused the notification reset...roshigoth1 wrote:

I did uninstall/reinstall at the beginning of the superhero event. I've turned the notificaticons off at least 4 times since then.Bravewall wrote:

Is Tapped Out the only app you've got that's turning its notifications back on? I wouldn't think an App has any ability to change that setting on its own. Might be a bug on your device.roshigoth1 wrote:

Well, then it must be a bug thats on both my moto g and my galaxy tab 4, because I have to keep resetting it for both. At least on the tab, I don't need the notification volume up, so I don't hear it. But I'm running kaspersky premium on both devices so I doubt its a bug.- Got me stumped, then. I'm out of ideas. Sorry.
- I had the same issue... TSTO notification sounds turning back on even though the game's notifications were set to OFF in the menus.
I finally got them to stop after a troubleshooting frenzy, so I don't know what specifically did the trick. One thing to try, though, is to intentionally turn the notifications on in both the in-game and app setting menus, cycle the game and/or device off and on, and then turn the notifications back off again.
