I'm OK with it. It's not an unusual marketing pattern to see something priced higher on release and then come down. You pay more to get something sooner/have it longer/own it while it's shiny and new. Especially plausible with something like the Volcano Lair, which starts producing payouts for you as soon as you purchase it. When sales start to soften, the merchant discounts the item to see who else might buy it at a lower price.
Agreed it would be cool to get some sort of reward for being a long-time player. I guess you could say that the longer you've been around, the more giveaways and/or limited time items you've had a chance to accumulate.
