You are absolutely not forced to spend that donut, it's exactly the same as the option to use 12 donuts to speed up a 24 hour task. Hence the "0/10". That means that you have collected from 0 restaurants/shops out of 10. When you tap one, it will say "1/10". And that means that you have collected from 1 restaurant/shop out of 10. Which means there's 9 left for you to tap before you've completed that task.
