Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Some might not get the joke, but it's based solely on the title of the thread and reminded me of the old commercials.
Aside from the pointless joke, I would like to add to what the others have said. I get most of my money from tasks and visiting friends, which has been mentioned. But, I don't think anyone really explained the fact that the shorter tasks will earn you more money in the long run if you are there to tap them shortly after they complete. I like 2 hour tasks personally. It doesn't take long to visit your town quickly to collect and reset your tasks. I get a short smoke break at work every few hours that allows me to do this method. Basically, my point is that doing 4 X 2hr tasks will net you more cash than doing one 8 hr task as long as you can collect within a short amount of time after they finish. If you are going strictly for cash and don't care so much about animations and such, this is the best way to go. Other than going into detail on the shorter tasks, everyone else explained everything excellently. ;)
