- I don't see how EA could possibly police them and identify feeder towns if they are being linked to separate e-mail addresses with separate Origin IDs. Even if they could identify multiple towns being played on the same device, they wouldn't be able to distinguish a person playing multiple feeder towns from multiple members of a family all playing their games on the same tablet. I'm guessing feeder towns would be much more of an issue in games that are more competitive between users - Tapped Out is much more of a cooperative game than a competitive one.
I haven't bothered with a feeder town as I spend too much time already just playing my one town! 8) - Awesome, thanks!
The other game I play a lot is Neopets, and you're allowed to have side accounts, but you're not allowed to really do anything on them, which is why it surprised me so much to see people talking openly about playing on other accounts here. I'm going to make one and see how it goes. :) panopticnic wrote:
Well I don't know about your other game but there isn't really much advantage to having a second town here other than when you have events like this. You can drop things in the town. But I think this is the first event where it actually makes a difference to your town (like with these eggs). And even then you have to remember to not tap the gremlins in your second town.
And even if a feeder town helps, it helps a tiny amount compared to the overall scope of the event. If I had a feeder town it would be to try different design ideas, not done as a way to 'help' my primary town accumulate cash or prizes more quickly.- If towns could trade donuts or items, I could understand not allowing multiple accounts, but at most a feeder town can give your main town event stuff (gremaliens now, spying during stonecutters, gift bags last xmas, etc) and tap whatever you might specifically want tapped. They're very convenient, but not game-breaking. I mean, you still only get 100 neighbors. So yeah, you can have however many towns you feel like. (One member here has a dozen towns. That's dedication.)
- Okay, so I just made the new town, and I noticed something very strange. When I visit my towns, none of the characters are doing the things they're supposed to be doing.
I'm looking at my new little town now from my main town. Homer, Lisa, and Ned are all supposed to be in the Quick-E-Mart, and Kang is supposed to be in the Brown House. But when I look at it from my main town, Apu is feeding the Octuplets, Ned is jogging, Lisa is playing the sax, Homer's just wandering, and Kang is seasoning humans. Is this normal?
When I visit my main town from my feeder town, it looks like all my characters are aimlessly walking around when they're supposed to be on various other tasks.
How strange. - I personally do not have any additional town....but it seems to me it is no different than playing any other game with different characters.

The stuff you're seeing from your main town INTO your feeder town happens because, if a character is on any still-in-progress indoor task, EA has it programmed so that VISITORS to your town can see all the characters "in action" ... so any random outdoor task is assigned by the Magical Computer In The Sky. If you send a bunch of people to Kwik-E-Mart, then when you go from another town to peek in, you see a whole lot of characters piling out of the Kwik-E-Mart, each doing some random outdoor task ... hence, you'd see Lisa playing her sax, Ned jogging, etc. What's fun is that they all come out of the Kwik-E-Mart doorway at the same time ... and sometimes the "task" will be one that is stationary, so a bunch of characters will be stuck in the doorway doing their stationary tasks. I'm describing it really badly.
When you visit your main town from your feeder town and see everyone wandering aimlessly ... have those characters' tasks completed? I mean, if you log into your main town after seeing that, are there thumbs-up over their heads? Because once the task completes, a visiting neighbor sees the people wandering aimlessly. For instance, if in your main town you have Lisa playing her saxophone (her 4 hour task) ... After 5 hours, you visit from your feeder. From there, you will see Lisa wandering around. If you then log into your main town, YOU will see Lisa still playing her saxophone, but with the thumbs-up over her head. She finished her task, but you haven't cleared the thumb yet.
Is that what might have happened?
Gawd, this got LONG! Sorry :(annettemarc wrote:

I observed my towns, and yes that's exactly what seems to be happening! And here I was all this time worrying about other people seeing my characters. :P I mean, not really worried, but I like to have them on outdoor tasks to "show them off" I guess. It also explains why so many of my friends always seem to have Wiggum dressed as a lady, Chalmers in his ballerina outfit, and Luann in her ball. I just thought everyone really like those tasks, haha.Any donuts I accumulate I just throw at Homer Buddhas.
Why, don't you know a kitten dies every time someone buys a homer Buddha?izabellatrix wrote:

Sometimes it's a lot of fun, especially when they have a special task for the entire (or most of the) community ... these were from the event on Saint Patrick's Day, when the adults were all sent to O'Flanagan's Pub. In my MAIN town, they were all indoors, behaving themselves. From my FEEDER town, if I scrolled over fast enough to get the screenshot, here's what I saw.
First here's the mob-pouring-out-of-the-bar:
Here's what it looks like a moment later ... you'll see some of them are walking away doing various tasks, and others are still stuck in the doorway. Those are the ones that the program randomly assigned a STATIONARY outdoor task.
Here are a couple close-ups of the characters piled up, stuck in the doorway. Notice that in one, Barney is on the ground and in another one, he's missing. If you keep going in-and-out of the town (looking at it from your feeder), each time the random tasks are different. Poor Boobarella seems to always be burning at the stake, and Smithers LOVES that whip. Snake's only outdoor task is combing his hair, so ...
Somewhere in that stack are Patty and Selma smoking, the Texan riding his mechanical bull, and a dozen or so others.
It's fun. :)
