I haven't spent a single donut. I have over 4400 probes and I'll likely get Hugo this evening or tomorrow. Not at all worried about missing prizesyet.

If the craft items don't disappear on the 20th, I should be ok. I'll get the donut machine Thursday or Friday at my pace. Maybe earlier if the probe-for-egg glitch gets fixed and I drop off my eggs again. I'll definitely get the craft items by the end if the amounts don't change or that they disappear. This, of course, depends on the next phase having a manageable amount of ray guns to collect with regards to their drop rate, and same with the 3rd stage's proteins. Being able to buy specific things (candy corn, gummi bears) really helps take the stress off. Plus it's not a chance for a chance for a chance like Easter. I'll spend donuts at the end to get something good if I don't have to spend a lot.

I have a side town that is 100% freemium. As of now, I'm approximately 2 days from Hugo, a maybe week away from the Great Pumpkin, and 500 probes behind schedule. But, that side towns doesn't get the attention that my main town gets either.Edit: spelling.

I am happy with my progress so far. I am 2,600 probes away from the donut device so I will be able to get that by the end of the week. I am very close to Hugo and should be able to get him tonight. I am halfway to the pumpkin and I think that I will have enough for that by the end of next week if I continue to collect things at my current pace. I also have collected some spooky walls, human test subject, donuts, and the bush from treat bags.

Freemium players - how are you doing?

I have Hugo and will get the DTD on Thursday. Didn't rush anything. Did spend hard earned free-donuts on the Ray Gun. Don't know if I'll get all the prizes by the EoE but it'll at least be close.

I dont get why people think this or any event is skewed towards having to spend donuts. It'd be IDIOTIC to do that. Ive not spent any donuts on this event itself, and a single treat bag lies between me and the donut torture machine.

This paranoid, ignorant belief that EA are somehow gouging players with skewed events has to stop. It's ridiculous.

I'm surprisingly going better than I ever have in other events. Right now I have 6130 probes. Since this quest started I did not get anything awesome but FINALLY yesterday I shot down a UFO and received 30 donuts and then later opened a treat bag and got 2 more donuts. I've also gotten one human test subject! I finally feel content, cause for so long I was getting nothing.

As for crafting, I'm struggling really badly with the Grand Pumpkin, I'm only halfway. For Hugo I need 9 more fences, 9 more eggs and 36 more candy corn. I don't know why candy corn is such a struggle for me to obtain, haha.
