As someone who always plays with aging off, I'm curious how many simmers play with aging on vs aging off. What would you consider your preferred setting and why? I know there are a lot of options, but I tried to make the poll inclusive of all the options. Apologies if someone has already done a poll like this, I looked for one and couldn't find any.

When I play with aging on, it's active household and NPCs only. I do have some saves that are mostly aging off, though I do occasionally turn on aging for NPCs - otherwise, babies would never age up lol.

Aging is off and I age up my played family when I feel ready. NPCs never age. They are eternally stuck at whatever age they were when introduced to the game. For example, Cassandra Goth (2014) and Sofia Bjergsen (2015) are still teens in my game. They were friends with my young adult sim Juliette, when she was a teen, and now with Juliette's teen daughter.

I used to enable aging for everyone, but a few months ago I started disabling it only for my active household and I like it so much better. I just age them up when I feel it's the right time.

It depends on the storyline I am playing for the many different households/communities I play. Some have aging on - normal or long life. Some have unplayed and NPC on while active house is off and aged up by birthday cake. Some are just completely aging off.

For the most part, I don't play with aging on, it's off for all. That said, I have had it on in the past, and when it has been on, it's only active household only.

I felt this was the closest option. In my main save I play rotationally and enable aging for active household and periodically unplayed/NPC sims. My other saves are either aging off or aging on for everyone.

Ageing is enabled for active household only and I play each of my households for 4 days per sim year (28 day seasons).

Then on the last household per year I turn it on for npcs for those 4 days only so that they keep pace with all of my played sims.

I always have aging on for everybody and enjoy automatic offspring and story progression of the NPCs. I used to pause aging during Uni, but have now found a better solution: a lovely grocery store where my Sims can buy paranormal soul fragments to turn back their age. I couldn't stand to play a Sim much longer than the normal lifespan.
