Grem-aliens before quest completion?

Question

I don't have the answer but I was wondering the same thing.

If I squish them now will I get the items when I am able to start collecting? At this point I'm just letting them run free until I can collect.

I squashed mine, only three, but I couldn't tell if I received credit once I finished the quest. There is plenty after you finish the quest.

I had some running around yesterday and squished them. When I finished Lisa's quest this morning, I already had a little stockpile of probes.

As said above, yes they count. If you have another town that can see the totals you can find out how many you have.
