Has in game cash lost its value?
You still need cash. The family practice building cost me $160,500 and I believe the hospital is around $193,000, so I'm putting off on buying land for now.

It's a fair observation. As new buildings and characters are added, the income for each player as they keep playing only increases. You can only make new buildings so expensive and you only have to buy them once. Land gets more costly of course and there are always decorations but after a certain point in playing money is very easy to come buy and starts rolling in. The seasonal currencies are a nice way to get everyone back to a new starting point and keep interest piqued for all players.
The seasonal updates keep me entertained much longer than a regular update, that's for sure.
