Parents can (should) monitor their children's TV viewing. However the game is a free app and so it is hard for parents to regulate. Hence, the lack of extreme violence in the game. Good call on the part of EA.
Personally, I've never liked the strangling bit in the show. I just don't find abuse against children and animals funny.
