However, am I the only person who uses the hide function? I've had one neighbor hidden for a long time. This event, he's been visiting frequently, and I'm visiting in return. It's a great town, so I wasn't going to drop him anyway. In fact, I'm fine if my neighbors want to take some time off: if there's nothing to tap, I just hide them until I know they're active again. Actually, I wouldn't drop some of my neighbors if they quit altogether. - I give people the benefit of doubt and let them linger for 8 weeks unless I'm hurting for event collecting. If I have around 15 people not around for over a week into an event I will clean up and post in the add me thread to replenish. You can usually tell how long they have been gone by what is going on in their SF. If they have a building under construction for weeks on end for example. There are a number of other similar indicators that they haven't been around for a long time.

I use the hide function if a neighbor doesn't have anything to tap for a few days. I call it my "watch list". If there's no activity for 3 weeks or more, they're gone... During this event however, I'm being ruthless. Need those blueprints! I even dumped a couple of family members. Hated to do it but both of them have been inactive for months. Normally, I'm far more lenient though. Mumble_Taker wrote:

Another neighbor has been gone 16 weeks but I'm still able to dump trash into their Krustyland so I have no reason to dump them
It's never about how often you play. It's all about having something for me to tap :D
I agree, I only ever go to check how long since they have played if there is nothing to tap.- mikepellerin60Seasoned Newcomer5 weeks. But I have some ling time friends who have not even started SH or the Monorail yet, but they still have tappables. (Tappables is a perfectly cromulent word). :D
- I have a neighbor who hasn't played in 10 weeks...and counting. I hope they are all right.

2. To be honest, is it necessary to have a full list of neighboreenos at this point? The extra assistance during events seems nominal and outside of events (unless you need in-game cash) even less.
3. I liberally use the hide function and have a handful of neighbors whom haven't played in months but have such nice towns and/or were once forum regulars, I await their return. (Here is a pic, as proof of said statement. http://i.imgur.com/iIEdF9b.jpg?2 - from a similar thread  http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/10288896.page back in February - all still neighbors, seven months later).
4. I liberally use the hide function (during events). If I don't see your name for a few days and have dropped by you town consistently, off to the naughty list you go...as long as it doesn't affect my progress, we're cool - when I see you again, you'll see me again.
5. I liberally use the hide function (outside of events). It's unrealistic for me to visit 100 neighbors daily (Ain't nobody got time fo dat). My list is full. I got a job, I got stuff to do. At any given time, easily half of my neighbors are hidden. Also feels like many of them feel the same way, which is nice. They don't visit me regularly, but are still active. They have nice towns, but I don't feel obligated to pop in consistently if they don't...
Ultimately, I haven't found very many neighbors abandoning the game as of late. Tappers gonna tap.- When i see they dont play, like i just deleted someone with no SH no monorail but also no tapball
Hasnt played for 16 weeks, so i dropped that person.
If i cant tap anything i hide them a while, still no luck after a few weeks they are gone...
Real life does get in the way and maybe they have bigger worries that tapping so i do give it some times
And as sandwedgeking said: visiting 100 neighbours daily, i aint got time for that! Pinpal00 wrote:

I use the hide function. I've had good neighbors who have taken breaks and then come back (as have I, and I can take more than two weeks off for a vacation), but then I only keep about 50 neighbors. More than that and it takes too long to visit them all, and 50 works well for me.
I hope my current neighbors are more lenient than others on here and don't consider dropping me right now. They can get into my town but I can't, so I can't clear buildings or visit them.- I also think that the leader board is a good help. If they have 0 currency of whatever the event is, I go and check them after a week or so. Usually I give them 1 week after that, if there is no progress.
But sometimes you can "use" their towns for a long time anyway, like dumping garbage os so. Then when nothing left to tap, and I check up on them it says "last played 6 weeks ago". Oh... well, off with their heads...
