Yeah, the extent of KEM farming has to be very small.
I've pretty much stopped visiting neighbors, but when events compel me to do so, it's pretty clear that out of my 90 or so neighbors, only a very small number have taken advantage of the various bonanzas over the last year or so (wailing walls, tennis courts, Big Ben towers, etc.). Almost none of them are KEM farming. And these are people I've added via "add me" threads, who you would expect to be more interested in this stuff than the average player.
I don't think EA is losing much, if any, revenue because of KEM farming.
