If this event wasn't what you wanted, what exactly would you have liked?

If this event didn't float your boat or wasn't your cup of tea, how could it have been better? Repeat of a previous event? Something classic from the old episodes?

I personally would like to see Santa appear and perhaps be playable (wishful thinking). It would especially tickle my pickle if he would appear on Christmas Eve bearing gifts even LPN couldn't foresee. Waking up to gifts from EA on Christmas morning, based on how good or bad I've been, would be a nice personal touch.

Thoughts? How would this have been your dream holiday event?

Basically a happier event with nice prizes.

    Yeah, this.

  • It sorta suits Halloween more. I know it's all tied in to Christmas, but the prizes and all that suit my Halloween section more than my Christmas section. And earning currency is soooooo boring. It's the same as the monorail (and we've had that ever since) and Wild West. But easier because there's no limitations on production of resources. Then there's the gnome which is really random and unrelated to the event.

They could've had a really cool theme based around the gnome, recycle the elf cannon and that stuff. Or maybe a big snowball fight with all the kids. A Southern Hemisphere summer event. Something fun. Religious battles aren't really that fun. The dialogue is somewhat funny, but that's it. I want a break from reality when I play this game.
  • My only dislikes are having to level up the crafting to unlock more stuff to craft and that the event currency is earned in the same way as rail yard and wild west event

I second that....too much work for stuff you really don't want.

I don't mind what EA is trying to do with this Winter event, I just wish they had done it better.
I know it's a parody and it's intent is humorous. I have no problem with mocking things for fun, it's just, well- it hasn't been done well. The jokes are poorly written and they just go to satanic tropes, etc.
There's more clever ways to mock paganism. So many ways.

As a happy card carrying pagan I wholeheartedly agree- we have a lot of things that would have been more fun. I do love the event but they're missing all the good stuff to joke with. :)

Like at Moes, they shouldn't be making chicken fingers, stealing the bar to make mead would have been a better offering and funnier quest lines. Moe having a fit over the takeover, honey and fruit everywhere and a bunch of drunk pagans. We looooove the holidays lol

PS I have to say this again. Paganism has no "Satan" that is xtianity and satanism. We have good and evil in all (some more then others) but we're polytheistic, not monotheistic.

I thought the same, with respect to being better suited to Halloween. Devil snowman has ended up in my Halloween town. So much better suited to it.

Really not liking some of the "humor" either. I don't feel as though they are doing a very clever job with the parody, it feels like they are taking mean-spirited jabs at people with any sort of belief, whether it's pagans, Christians or whatever else. I think people can laugh at themselves (Willie tricking the SFers into doing his work was really humorous), but there's too much of the "you people are simpletons" vibe. Folks don't take well to ridicule, and that's what this is at times.

Now, as to what I would have liked? Hannukah. So much material from past and present episodes to work with there. Even in this latest episode, there was enough to work with. I'm just sort of confounded as to why they based the event on less than three minutes of the holiday episode.

Didnt mind really, however Ba'al is a pretty lamewad god whose sacrifices and rituals would make you hurl, funny thing is maggie is dressed as what a goat (Kid) or a lamb?
After they sacrifice whatever animals they will, who do you think is next?
    Hint she's dressed as a goat/lamb.

Anyways, the idea was nice, a history lesson about Xmas origins, however they didnt really get anywhere did they, straight to the satanism, no mention about how mistletoe was considered gods....ahem number 3(?) or lets go with human glaze.
sure it was technically the Norse gods so it kinda makes sense (does it really?) something about goo from berries , i cant remember, or they could have talked about Natalis Solis Invincti, or even where St. Nick comes from?

instead we get an otherwise lame event that devolves into pretend satanism led by Willies desire to be lazy.

They could have gone with the origins of christmas yes, but added the winter traditions of other countries, remember the FIRST simpsons xmas episode where Bart sing Batman smells and Lisa is dressed as Tawonga, the Santa claus equivalent of the south seas?
