I'm not happy >( Max items?

I started playing this event yesterday and immediately ran into a "max item" problem. So, I went in, deleted entire sections of my town (houses, shrubs, trees, etc.) and tried placing a few new items. I was able to add in a few items (not many), but then got the "max item" popup again and again and again.

Really EA? You gave us a new event, new items, new land and you can't increase the max item restriction?
I'm not happy https://i.imgur.com/M7bSqlB.jpg I won't be able to play this event unless they increase the cap https://i.imgur.com/d9gvRNJ.gif

Resorted to going to my B-town, 'Zxtrm1' for meantime & neighboreenos are also welcome there...

Thanks everyone (for the most part) for sharing your experiences. I'm at a daily dead-end. Every item I attempt to place is met with the max item pop-up message. I had to remove lots of items just to place current event pieces. But I'm getting too frustrated. If EA created a new event, with new items and new land the least they can do is raise the item cap for us.

Excuse me? I have no idea what you're talking about.

Pay no mind to the haters. You have an incredible town. It stinks what you have to do just to put a new item in your town. It's not like you're asking to be able to put an "unlimited" amount of items in your town, just the ability to put what they give you from the event on the land they gave us. Not unreasonable, I dont think.

I'm starting to think I need new neighbours then.

The vast majority of my neighbours, though they appear to be regular players (most are progressing well in the event)-- have junky towns. I based my original post on what I've seen. Towns with no roads, large piles of duplicate premium items, blue houses as far as you can see, etc. Very few of my neighbours seem to put any care in their towns...

If it bothers you then yes maybe it is time. I know I got tired of hunting through some peoples giant mess so I cleaned house and got rid of neighbors like that. I put a lot of effort into my town and prefer those who do the same. I keep a fairly short (30 or so) neighbors and its usually people I've met here so I dont run into problems like that too much anymore.

Yea that's what I did, collected neighbours mostly, based on our chats here. You can pick up on those that put thought in their towns.

For me a shorter list is a happier list! And I definately agree with you and @alapalme about trying to deal with disorganized towns. Im not trying to start that debate again, theres been enough threads about that, and I agree to each his own in his own town. But that doesn't mean I have to keep you on my list. I love going through my neighbors towns, not just for inspiration but just to see whats new.
  • I think what @Excruciator69 meant is that the older devices' OS can't handle as much as some of the newer ones. However, the only problem I see with this is that some of my neighbors with older devices would crash entering my town.

My comment was about one thing: I find it incredible that people don't seem to get there are limitations to hardware that have to be considered. Not every square in your town can contain a 1x1 item.

There has always existed within this game a tension between the ability of users to place all of the “stuff” they’ve acquired and existing hardware/software constraints. But I think it’s possible to understand the necessity of those constraints and still grouse about their existence and/or argue that the developers aren’t easing them quickly enough. After all, complaining about the game is one of the reasons this forum exists. ;)

I've been fortunate not to have run into that yet, but I wait for it every day. Seems counterintuitive to give land but no item limit increase. What do you do with all the extra space?

I Nuked on January 1, 2017, since then i have tried to rebuild my town every day, EVERY DAY.
I've gotten close but every time a new event appears the finishline gets further and further.
Various events such as the Airport or the Secret agents provided various items that fit quite easily, since then everytime an event starts i dont just create an event area (i lied yes i do), i try to incorporate those areas into springfield, which actually becomes easier as you start fiddling with ideas.

So while im not there yet, i understand the frustration of trying to build something in your town.
Various issues exist, but one of the more confusing ones is: How does an item with dimensions of 1x1 and 10x10 both count as 1 item? Yet items like Knightboat or Vigilant Town Square count as multiple (correct me if im wrong) i feel the "simple" solution would be increasing the size of smaller, most commonly used items, items like fences, shrubs, trees, etc
They should have a larger or longer version, a 1x2 fence should have a 1x4 and 1x8 versions trees can have groves, etc. This would allow you to keep the same format but substantially reduce the number of items used.

However i completely agree, if you release an event can you at least increase the item limit by the same number of items introduced in said event?

It's like having a 10 gallon container and being provided continuous amounts of liquid to fill it with. Sure some people may only choose a handful of liquids to fill it with, but a large portion will use all the liquids provided, eventually you will overflow, in which case a larger container would be needed (or a separate container, or "Shelbyville" if you will.)\

I never refered to you did I? Although you did feel the need to put those word in my mouth, along with others. We understand the devices have limits, all we are saying is if you give us more land, at least let us put something on it. And I dont recall anyone wanting to put an item on every square. Im not even sure were having the same conversation.
