Thats almost the same as me. I just upgraded to lvl 12 cannon this morning but now I have almost over 450 elves. How are you on bells? I just got little helper ralph last night and am at around 14,500 bells.

Between my days off where I can get on a lot and a few days where I can only get on once or twice Im averaging 1,000 bells a day (about 7,000 a week) so I shouldn't have an issue with getting the last prize.

I feel like I play a lot and I can't seem to wrap my head around people running out of elves. Wish they could take some of mine!

If anyone fires the cannon only 4 times per day they will keep a surplus of elves up until some point in time between now and the end of the phase. I have calculated this out as the intended rate of fire based on the rate we get elves and the max amount we can fire in a set of 3. (144 + 12) / 39 = 4. This can't be coincidence that it is exactly divisible out to 4. At this point in time I have collected all elves possible daily and have been firing at about 5 times per day and my bank of elves has slowly dwindled once I was able to fire more than 10 per shot. Which means in a matter of days I will reach the point where I can only shoot it 4 times a day once I have 39 elves available to shoot. That should be as follows: Once when I wake up and once every about 5 hours. But if for some reason I can't shoot 4 times one day I will have those elves in bank for the next day and do an extra shot that day.

I'm at 18606 at the start of my neighbor tapping and I ran out of elves yesterday. My cannon recycles way too fast to keep up. I saw the out of elves message at least a half dozen times yesterday so I know I am not missing any.

Yep.

Surplus averages 350. But I'm just ahead of the bell chart in the sticky and that's all that matters.

I did have a surplus until today. I've been off the last 2 days and have been firing off more elves than usual. I go back to work tomorrow, so I'll probably be using the cannon only a couple of times a day. I also stopped upgrading my cannon at level 10, so I should be able to build up a surplus again. Right now I'm only about 100 bells away from the Spruce Caboose and well ahead of schedule for finishing. :D

I'm about 1,000 bells ahead of pace with about 250 elves. It does indeed seem necessary to not fire the cannon too often as I have found over the past few days that I can easily get my total below 200 if I fire as often as possible.

Interesting way to prevent people from finishing too fast.

That says to me that he mentioned the only possibility that he knows is different, and threw it out there for other opinions. Not as fact of the issue.
