Yes! You can only have 8 turkeys in your town at a time, and there is no bank for storing more. Try turning off your buildings, roads and trees to look for more. Also they spawn from the SH tunnel.

I think it's funny when i accidentally hit the wrong turkey.
He hops around like "not me! I live here! Tap THEM!"
I also think I've observed the roaming critters from any event "attract" to me more when I'm in construction mode. Like they want to get in your way while you're building. So i will frequently go into that mode and just rotate trees until they show up. It worked great with zombies.
