- I like the part about the jokes not working.
They couldn't bother to translate the joke to something that works in the other languages? Yeah, that's not always easy, but isn't that part of a translators job? Somebody that does translating for a living, please back me up on this. Don't you have to translate idioms etc? - "... Possibly make some of the jokes not work."
I found my native language in this new language option, but I'm not going to change it... I enjoy TSTO jokes in English... Lol  Neglecterino wrote:

Weeell... Some are based on word-play, which isn't very easy to translate. And some are based on american phenomenon or products, and can't really be translated into anything that would make any sense.
But basically, I agree with you. I hate watching a television show or movie with a badly translated pun or joke, that really screws me up! And even worse is when the translation is just wrong (which happens more often than it should).- This is great! :)
I've wanted to play in English for ages. The German translation is often abysmally bad.
Thank you, lpnita, for pointing out this option. - What!!! No Aramaic!! They are also missing Caveman Drawings!!

Could it be that the part about jokes not working is itself ... a joke? dcacooper wrote:

Maybe. :) Or maybe just a CYA on their part. :wink:Hayley1311 wrote:
At university I studied the Language of Humour < I'm a BA English student.
Without being too technical, most verbal humour uses pre-obtained knowledge or wordplay.
Pre-obtained - what's grey and has a trunk > a mouse going on holiday (whereas your suppose to think elephant)
Wordplay - using two/to/too etc which only widely appear in the English language
So pre-obtained is easier to translate
I bet that was fascinating! When I was taking French, my French teacher said that the English "You are pulling my leg." should probably be translated as "You are putting me in a box." French speakers, was he pulling our leg. :lol:eliansukke180 wrote:
Thanks for the heads-up! I'm gonna start playing in Korean from now on!
Don't! :)
My brother is still angry with me for changing the navigator device of his car to Finnish a couple of years ago.
He wasn't able to change it back for several days - and then it took him hours. ;)
