I've never been interested in it. I have a favorite football team, the Eagles. With my luck I would have to draft someone or a defense from a team I really dislike. I can't root for Tony Romo or the Cowboys or anyone else in the NFC East for that matter, well except for RG3. I kinda like him for some reason
I actually like the creative aspect of it. It's a job to put together a winning team. Although you can rank your players of interest for the draft, there's no guarantee that you can get who you want. Plus, you have the surprise of injuries and players just having an off year. I always concentrated on good defense and a good Running Back to build the core around. I played 3 years and finally won my final year, after having been middle of the pack for the first 2.
Sound like a good plan and something I would do. I could also see myself trying too hard. Like looking at each teams schedules/match-ups, factoring in weather/elevation, or trying to figure out run/pass defense vs. offenses and players. It would take way too much of my time because I would try too hard. It takes me about 10-14 hours to pick my college teams for the end of the year bowl pool. I've won it twice now, so all the time hasn't been for nothing or maybe I just got lucky.
