I think that EA is taking cues from Family Guy and simply doesn't care about how much land we need anymore.Superheroes and now the Sideshow event are evidence EA is trying to desensitize us all from the idea that we need to have enough land for every building by adding an overt amount of content.
And, in all honesty, I agree with EA's new stance. Listening to those complaining about needing more land is holding back the game in terms of profit and the quality of content. Compare this to Family Guy where each event is celebrated due to all the new items where each TSTO event prior to Superheroes had almost nothing. The praise from more content far outweighs the complaints about land.
It simply doesn't make financial sense for EA to cater to the small niche of completionists complaining. Many will still buy everything even when there isn't enough land (as a matter of fact many will buy MORE because EA is adding more content) while EA can gouge money from those with lots more land and holding out to purchase only items they like.
Very good point. I call Family Guy the junk pile game. You can't create a town, you simply place "junk" everywhere. Simpsons started out very logical. You have building 1, 2 & 3. Now we are starting to see illogical structures. You have to make room for a giant alien queen or a Radioactive Man set piece. I'm a completest and I have to deal with ghost ships and ice castles. It's just time to re-think it. This post is constructive, as making use of the inventory can be a new element for me.
