maximizing bells for both you and your neighbor

Can you tap your friends connon more than once per day?
Let's say I visit friend A, and tap his "loaded" cannon only.Then I leave without tapping anything else, having two taps left in his town. Can I then come back 4 hours later (or how long it takes to reload the cannon, I have not recieved mine) and tap that agin, or do you have to wait a day?

Edit: yes you can tap the cannon again.
