Money mountain bleeding me dry :(

I was rather hoping there was a way to significantly boost my income. At the pace they have been add levels I have had a milllion or two on hand for the new level. But the last several level updates have occurred during these big events we have had back to back and I'm playing catch up. Unless I'm doing something wrong it seems like the pacing changed from you have enough to get through the next thing as it came out; to grind for a long time to never be on top of the releases. I was always caught up with the content since stonecutters until all this content bombardment recently.
