Too much money.

Am I the only one who gets bored with the family once they have a lot of money and a fully furnished home? I'm at that point with my car and family, they just make money constantly. I even keep the thermostat on 24/7 and the bills don't make a dent. I'm thinking about just giving away a good portion of their money as gifts and see if that makes me want to play them again. What do you guys think?

Yeah, my sims eventually make too much money. I tend to use the money X cheat to get rid of it because there's nothing I want to spend it on.
  • Once my household has too much I give out money to the strangers on the street. It's usually NPT and I use MCCC for that. And I like new feature to be able to give money as a gift . It's good when parents are able to give money to the children who are very young adults, but are living on their own.
  • Since the gift feature was introduced, thats what I've done! If my sims have grown children, I'll give money to them like an inheritance. Before we were able to give gifts/money to sims, I'd take money out for things the game doesnt account for (taxes, unexpected costs, etc)
  • I had this couple give 10,000 to her brother and then another 10,000 to his sister but that was when they had under 100k. I think they'll give both siblings another 10,000 and then maybe ten thousand a piece to their closest friends.
  • I never really pay attention to how much money my family has. I focus more on general family life, raising the kids, working on careers and aspirations. Once they finish one I immediately have them quit and start another career or select another aspiration once one is completed.
  • @simgirl1010 this time I think it's a combination of them having so much money and the fact I extended the lifespans to make more sense for seasons. I'm playing on 14 days seasons so my child Sims don't age for 56 days and I'm running out of things to do.

Making money is never my goal in the game. Usually, I cheat in a million simoleons to begin with, build a house and then play around with relationships, careers and skills. There is always a story attached to each Sim - I'm fond of storytelling and giving my Sims character and make them their own person with goals and wants.
  • While I love starting out new and living the struggles of a poor family, I don't get bored with my families once I make money. It's like my goal in the game to amass a huge fortune. Right now, I am quite happily sitting on 4.5mil simoleons!

Wow! I'm not a rags to riches type player but I guess I like for my sims to live an american middle class lifestyle. I want them to enjoy everything but have to work for it. I even had my two Sims quit their jobs but their hobbies are raking in the dough. With my new age settings every Sim in the family has completed at least one aspiration and they have several hundred thousand dollars in the bank. I don't know if I would ever amass a 4.5 million simoleon fortune. In one save I had made it to the 5th generation but I made each generation move out leaving most of the money behind.
