Not that I'm aware of, but I had the same glitch with legs and louie, and Burns and Waylon, I just left the game immediately after setting there tasks, when I logged back in they had finished, although when I logout I do the whole sync up by clicking bart and milhouse and then close the app down (more to save battery life than anything else). This seems to work for me.

All done! I went for the option of putting them on the task, then not touching anything, closing the app down and re-opening after 2 hours - sorted! So there's your solution to anyone else that's having this issue 8)

I don't think there is a solution at the moment. The glitch appears to trigger if somebody visits your town while the duo is performing their task. So aside from not having neighbors there's really nothing you can do.
